Dr.Karthik Kumaran is a consultant in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery .After graduating from the PSG institute of medical sciences and research , he went on to complete his post-graduation in general surgery at Vinayaka missions medical college in salem.He went on to train in cardio thoracic surgery at the prestigious and nationally renowned Sree chitra thirunal institute for medical science and
technology ( SCTIMST ) at thiruvananthapuram and successfully completed his MCh in cardiothoracic surgery. During his super speciality training period at SCTIMST, he became well versed in both adult and pediatric cardiothoracic surgeries and in cardiac intensive care . He also got to learn the technological
aspects of cardiac science like Left ventricular assist devices (LVAD) and artificial heart valves . He went on to train in minimal access cardiac surgery (MICS ) at Sri Ramakrishna hospital in Coimbatore and during that period performed more than 300 MICS procedures with excellent results .
